Former Avoca Woman Commits Suicide

Miss Mary Wiese, 67, of Atlantic and a former resident of Avoca, was found dead about 6 o’clock at the home of her sister, Mrs. Emil Kusgen, southeast of Hancock.

Deputy Sheriff Robert Clark of Avoca said Miss Wiese had taken her own life with a kitchen knife. She had been in poor health recently members of the family said. Miss Wiese had been visiting at the Kusgen farm home near Hancock.

Surviving are four sisters: Mrs. Ferdinand Peters of Avoca, Mrs. Clara Ross of Albuquerque, N.M., Mrs. Meta Schultz of Franksville, Wisconsin, and Mrs. Kusgen’ a brother, harry Wiese of Avoca and a half-brother, Rudolph Wise of Avoca

Blust Berthusen funeral home is in charge of arrangements. Funeral services will be held Thursday afternoon at 2 pm with the Rev. Joseph Gerlt conducting last rites. Burial will be in Graceland cemetery.
