Katie Petersen Smith 1872-1959

Funeral services for Mrs. Lester Smith, 77, will be held from the Blust-Berthusen funeral home Friday, December 23 (1959) at 2 pm with Rev. John M. DeBerg in charge of the services with burial in Graceland cemetery.

Mrs. Smith died at her home north of Avoca early Wednesday morning. She has been in failing health for some time.

Katie Petersen was born March 16, 1872 in Shelby county, the third daughter of Christian and Marie Petersen. She lived her entire life in this vicinity and reached the age of 77 years, 9 months, and 5 days.

She was preceded in death by her husband Lester smith. Survivors include her four children: Mrs. Marqueritta Morrison, Mrs. Harriet Peters, Edwin Smith and Mrs. Martha Dahl. She is also survived by three grandchildren: Reta Dahl, Peggy Lou smith, and Carl Richard Dahl; also 2 sisters: Mrs. Henry Karstens and Mrs. Roy Hetzell both of Avoca; one brother, D.P. Petersen
