Paul R. Davis
(December 27, 1898 - September 20, 1948)Auto Crash Fatal
Funeral services for Paul R. Davis, 39, owner of the Davis Bus lines were held today (Thursday) from the Pauley funeral home in Harlan with burial in Graceland cemetery.
Mr. Davis died Monday night at the Dennison hospital from injuries received when his car plunged over a step embankment Saturday night about 6 miles south of Dennison. He was alone at the time of the accident. He received a crushed chest, skull fracture, broken arm and broken leg in the accident. It is thought that his car hit a spillway on the west side of the highway as he was driving toward Harlan and plunged out of control into a ditch on the east side of the road.
Davis started his bus line from Avoca to Oakland and Omaha with headquarters here more than 1 year ago. About ten years ago he moved to Harlan and has had his bus terminal there. He operated busses from Harlan to des Moines and Omaha.
Surviving are his widow, his mother, Mrs. John C Davis of Avoca; two brothers, Floyd of Kansas City, Mon., and George of Minneapolis, Minnesota; three sisters: Mrs. Alfred Thies of Avoca, Jean of Boston, Massachussetts, and Leta of Chicago, Illinois.
Mr. Davis was a member of the Harlan town council and prominent in business activities there.
