Jens Christian Jorgensen 1882-1930
Jens Christian Jorgensen was born at Ronnebjorg, Vrejlev, Denmark, January 2, 1882, and died at his home south of Avoca, Wednesday, March 12, 1930, aged 48 years, 2 months, and 9 days.
Mr. Jorgensen came to this country in 1907 and worked on farms in this community until January 27, 1914, when he was united in marriage to Miss Freida Jensen. They made their home about three miles west of Walnut, where they lived for about five years; then another five years was spent on a farm northwest of Avoca; and six years ago they moved to their present home one the Wiese farm three and one-half miles south of Avoca.
Mr. Jorgensen was actively interested in the work of the English Lutheran church of Avoca, being recently elected trustee and treasurer of the congregation. He was well known in this community, and admired for his industry, thrift and good-fellowship.
He is survived by his wife, two children, Henrietta and Frances; a mother, one sister and four brothers in Denmark. In this country, Nels of Shelby and Peter of Avoca, one sister, Mrs. Walter Christensen of Avoca, other relatives and many friends. Another brother, Adolf has not been heard from since leaving Avoca a few years ago.
Funeral services were conducted at the English Lutheran church of Avoca, Saturday afternoon, March 15th, with interment at Graceland cemetery.
