Bert F. Rhodes 1886-1932
Bert F. Rhodes, the son of Joseph and Elizabeth Rhodes, was born at Sardinia, Ohio, on the 9th of January 1886. The early part of his life was spent on a farm in Ohio. When the deceased was but three years of age he suffered the loss of his mother.

In 1910, Mr. Rhodes was united in marriage to coral Pope. This union was blessed with two sons, Max and Dwight.The deceased was converted to God in 1911 and united with the Christian Church of Oakland where he lived seventeen years. During the past ten years he lived in and around Avoca. On November 11, 1931, he was received into the First congregational Church of Avoca.
Mr. Rhodes was the victim of an accident on the 21st of October 1931, which for a time threatened to prove fatal but being of a strong constitution, he rallied and in the spring was again able to work. It was while at work on June 23rd that he came into contact with a cable that was heavily charged with electricity which caused instant death, at the age of 46 years, 5 months, and 14 days.
He was preceded in death by his father 12 years ago, also one brother and two sisters.
Mr. Rhodes loved his home and was always deeply grateful for kindness offered him by his family and friends.
Left to mourn their loss are his wife, two sons, Max of Avoca and Dwight at home; also three brothers, two sisters and his stepmother, besides other relatives and many friends.
