Carl Peter Anderson 1884-1920

Peter Anderson died Sunday, June 20, 1920, at his home southwest of Avoca after an illness of about twenty four hours, aged 35 years, 8 months, and 29 days. The funeral services were held Tuesday from his late home; it was one of the largest attended funerals ever held in this community. Rev. Sauerman officiated. The remains were laid to rest in the Avoca cemetery.

Mr. Anderson got up Saturday morning feeling in the best of health, ate his breakfast and about seven o’clock was taken with severe cramps. A physician was called, also a specialist from Omaha, who discovered that the bowers were paralyzed and tied in a knot. There was no hope from the very first, he was beyond the aid of medical skill and passed away Sunday morning, surrounded by his wife, relatives, and friends.

Carl Peter Anderson was born in Avoca, September 22, 1884. In his infancy he was baptized in the Danish Lutheran church. Mr. Anderson lived in this community all his life. His mother passed away when he was eleven years old.

He was united in marriage to Miss Zella Sarvis February 10, 1900. For the past four years he has lived on the farm of W. J. Maxwell and by hard work and strict attention to his business he had accumulated quite a bit of property, and was considered among the best farmers in the section. One could not ask for a better neighbor and friend. His neighbors never asked a favor from Peter Anderson that was not received. He was a man who, if he could not say a good word for a neighbor, said nothing. The large turnout of neighbors and friends at his funeral gave silent testimony of the esteem in which he was held by all. All work was abandoned in the neighborhood, that all might attend the last service for their neighbor.

He leaves to mourn his early departure, a kind and loving wife, and baby, and three sisters and numerous relatives and friends, to who the entire community extend sympathy.
