Mrs. Alice Scott Royal 1896-1928
Alice Scott Royal was born in Avoca, Iowa, October 23rd, 1896 and died Saturday November 17, 1928 aged 32 years and 25 days.
Alice Scott was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Winfield Scott, and lived in and around Avoca nearly all her life. She graduated from the Avoca schools in 1914, after which she taught school for a year. She was united in marriage to Young Royal April 9, 1915. She has been in poor health for about three months and about a month ago was taken to the Jennie Edmundson hospital and everything humanly possible was done for her but to no avail. Her mother preceded her in death about six years ago.
She leaves to mourn the untimely separation, a husband and five sons: Eugene, aged 12, Robert, 10, Clifford, 7, Douglas 5, and Wallace 3; her father, Winfield Scott Sr and three brothers and three sisters: Harry I. Scott of Avoca, Grover C. Scott of Chamberlain, Saskatchewan, Canada’ Winfield Scott Jr., of Onawa, Iowa; Mrs. Karl Miller of Denver, Colorado, Mrs. F. W. Russmann and Mrs. Walter Johnson of Avoca.
The funeral services were held at the home of her sister, Mrs. Walter Johnson on Monday afternoon at 2:30, Rev H. E. Kilmer, pastor of the Presbyterian church officiating. A quartette composed of Sam Garlow, H.C. Vierck, Mrs. Minnie Taylor and Mrs. Ted Keeney sang “Safe in the Arms of Jesus” and “God Be With You Till We Meet Again.” The pall bearers were nephews of the deceased. Interment took place in the Avoca cemetery.
