Heart Attack Fatal

Harold K. Grauel, 50, died suddenly of a heart attack Monday, July 4th, at Lake Preston, S.D. He died while he and his wife were visiting Mrs. Grauel’s mother. Mr. and Mrs. Grauel had been in Avoca visiting friends a week before his death.

Harold Grauel was born in Harlan in 1899, and moved to Avoca while he was a young boy. He attended the Avoca school. Grauel was a licensed embalmer and worked for several years in Long Beach, California for a funeral home.

Sixteen years ago he established the Grauel Funeral Home in Costa Mesa, California and became known as one of that community’s outstanding leaders. Mr. Grauel’s list of affiliations included work in the Chamber of Commerce where he served as president for two terms, a member of the board of directors of the Costa Mesa Bank, Lions Club, past commander of the American Legion, Masons and Elks.

He leaves his wife, Olga, daughter, LaNoma McKamey; brother Clarence of Colorado and a sister Frances, Mrs. Ed Harris of Los Angeles.
