Last Rites Held

Funeral services for Otto Henry Peters, Avoca garage man, were held from the First Lutheran church Monday, April 14 (1946) at 2 pm with Rev. Joseph Gerlt officiating.

Mr. Peters died at his home in Avoca last Friday after a short illness from an incurable disease.

Otto Henry Peters, son of Peter H. and his wife Elseba Kreutzfeldt was born July 20, 1891 on a farm 4 miles northeast of Avoca. He was 55 years old, 6 months, and 20 days old at the time of his death.

On January 26, 1916 he was married to Anna Jacobsen and they started housekeeping in Walnut where Mr. Peters was in the garage business. Mr. Peters moved to Avoca about 20 years ago and has been in the garage business here ever since that time.

He is survived by his wife; a daughter, LuEtta; six sons: Allen, Ronald, Vernus, Clyde all of Avoca; Lyle of Los Angeles, California; Jack in the Army Air Force. All of the sons have served in the Armed Forces of their country. Other survivors include, three sisters: Mrs. Rudolph Oehlertz of Avoca, Mrs. Otto Klindt of Hancock, Mrs. Hattie Krohn of Avoca; four brothers: William P. Peters of Avoca and Fred, Herman and Ernest Holtz all of Avoca. A son, Arnold, died in infancy.

Store in Avoca closed from two to three pm Monday afternoon during the funeral services. Mr. Peters was always interested in the affairs of the community and will be missed not only by his family and friends but by his business associates along main street.
