MRS. EDWARD REINEKE, SR 1884-1947

After an illness of almost eleven years, death came quietly to Mrs. Edward Reneke on Sunday morning, December 21, 1947.

Dora Grodt was born at Marne, Iowa, September 21, 1884, where she spent the early part of her life. On October 1, 1913, she was married to Edward Reineke of Hancock. They lived on their farm west of Hancock until they moved to Avoca in 1920 where they have resided until her death. She leaves to mourn her loss, her husband; 4 children: Noami and Robert at home, Edward of Omaha, Jaunita Hyde of Newton, daughter of a previous marriage; four grandchildren; two sisters and four brothers. One son, Clifford Hyde, died in infancy.

Mrs. Reineke was a member of the Presbyterian church where she was an active worker in the Sunday School and other church organization until the time of her illness. She was interested in the progress of the church until the time of her death.

Mrs. Reineke showed a keen interest in politics and kept up her knowledge of world affairs during illness by means of her radio and through extensive reading. She loved beautiful flowers and birds and was member of the Avoca Garden Club, as well as of the Royal neighbor and Rebecca lodges. She was a past Noble Grand of the Prudence Rebecca lodge.

On February9, 1937, Mrs. Reineke was stricken with a rare paralysis from which she recovered sufficiently to spend a few hours a day in her wheel chair. For the past sixteen months she had been bedfast due to heart disease. She was a patient sufferer and always had a smile for others.

She was a loyal wife, a kind and loving mother and grandmother and will be sorely missed by those to whom she was dear.
