Funeral Services Held

Funeral services for Mrs. Gus Diederich, 82, were held from the First Lutheran Church in Avoca Sunday, December 8 (1946) at 3:30 pm with the Rev. Joseph Gerlt in charge of the services. Burial was beside her husband in Graceland cemetery.

Mrs. Diederich had been in failing health for the past year. She died at her home in Avoca Friday morning, December 6th (1946).

Mrs. Christina Diederich, the daughter of John Petersen and his wife, Christina, was born on June 18, 1864 in Ostenfeldt, Germany. Mrs. Diderich came to America in 1883 with her brother, John to Caresco, Nebraska. Her brother, Peter, had settled there the previous year; several years after that she came to Avoca.

On September 3, 1889, she was married to Gus Diederich who passed away on January 27, 1940. Mr. and Mrs. Diderich made many interesting trips to foreign countries. They both were active in the life of the Avoca community.

She is survived by two brothers; Pete of Avoca and John of Estherville. A brother, Hans, preceded her in death as well as a sister, Anna. Other survivors include her sister, Mrs. Chas. Blust of Avoca, who cared for Mrs. Diederich during her long illness and a nephew Emil Petersen of Avoca.
