Service Held for Mrs. Harry Sarvis

Funeral services were held Wednesday afternoon at the Berthusen funeral home for Mrs. Harry (Josephine Gross) Sarvis. Mrs. Sarvis, 75 died Monday (Sept 25, 1959) at the Methodist hospital in Omaha. She had been a patient at this hospital the past 7 ½ weeks and had been in poor health for a year. Rev. Herbert Kelly, assisted by Rev Robert Yoak conducted the service. Burial was in Graceland cemetery at Avoca.

Josephine Gross, daughter of Dominick Gross and Josephine Wiseman was born April 8, 1884 near Avoca. She was married to Harry Sarvis February 6, 1907 at Avoca. They were the parents of two daughters, Thelma and Maxine. Their early married life was spent farming and later Mr. Sarvis founded the Iowa-Nebraska Transportation Company.

Mrs. Sarvis was a member of the Congregational Church.

Her daughter, Thelma, died in 1915 when 6 years old. Harry Sarvis died in 1948. She is survived by her daughter, Maxine of Omaha; two sisters, Mrs. Guy Donaldson and Mrs. Dan Gustafsen two brothers, Frank and Clarence Gross all of Avoca.
