Services Thursday for George Sarvis

George Madison Sarvis, 63, died very suddenly of a heart attack at his home in Santa Monica, California at 12:45 am, Friday, October 20 (1950).
Funeral services will be held this Thursday aftern0on at the Blust-Berthusen funeral home. Rev. A. J. Goodson will officiate and burial will be in the Avoca Cemetery.

George Sarvis was born in Avoca on May 21, 1887, the son of Susan Jane Donaldson and George W. M. Sarvis. He was married to Lettie Martha Meggers on October 30, 1912 at Avoca. She died on August 10, 1917 at the birth of their only child, Lettie Meggers Sarvis. On October 26, 19119 he was married to Anna Marie Gustafsen at Avoca.

He had lived in Avoca or on farms near Avoca all of his life until during World War II when he and Mrs. Sarvis went to Tracy, California where they were employed at an army warehouse for several years. They returned to Avoca for a couple of years and in January, 1947 moved to Santa Monica, California where George was employed at UCLA. They had planned to return to Avoca in December to make their home here again.
Mr. Sarvis was a member of the Avoca Fire Department for over twenty years. He was very fond of athletics and was looking forward to again following Avoca ball teams.

He is survived by: his widow, Anna, a daughter, Mrs. John Dunlevy, two sisters, Mrs. H. F. Blust and Mrs. C. W. Uphouse, Concord, California, a brother Bert, San Leandro, California, two grandchildren, Tim and Lettie Lue Dunlevy, and several nieces and nephews. One brother, Harry F. Sarvis, died September 10, 1948.
