Floyd A. Stanley, age 95, of Council Bluffs, died October 9, 2008, at Bethany Lutheran Home.

He was born March 12, 1913, in Ft. Calhoun, Neb., to Harvey and Freada (Steyer) Stanley. Floyd was a retired machinist from the Union Pacific Railroad.

He was preceded in death by his wife Cleo (Birdsong), whom he married on June 5, 1944. Also preceding him in death were his parents, brothers, sisters and a grandson, Timothy Hoover.

Floyd is survived by his daughter Connie Hoover and her husband Tom of Crescent; sons, Lester Stanley and his wife Mary of Council Bluffs and Floyd Stanley Jr. of Oklahoma City, Okla.; sister, Pearl Hender; granddaughter, Kimberly Regmi; great-granddaughter, Yolenna Regmi; nieces, nephews and cousins.

Visitation with the family is Sunday, 6:00-8:00 p.m. at Cutler-O'Neill-Meyer-Woodring Funeral Home. Funeral Service is Monday 11:00 a.m., also at the funeral home. Interment will follow in Walnut Hill Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation.
