Charles J. Carrubba, age 88, of Council Bluffs, passed away October 8, 2008, at Mercy Hospital.

Charles was born March 27, 1920, in Russellville, Ala., to the late Domiano and Maria (Messina) Carrubba. He worked for the Chicago Northwestern Railroad; City of Council Bluffs, as a mechanic, and also repaired washers and dryers. Charles was of the Catholic faith.

He was preceded in death by his first wife, Mary (Vallinch), in 1971, Erma (Goos), in 1991; two sisters and four brothers.

Charles is survived by sister, Joan Carrubba, of Omaha, Neb.; nephew, Angelo Amato; nieces, Anita Ruffner, Marie Schroeder, Gloria Carrubba, Virginia Pokorny, Mary Ann Peters; great nieces and nephews.

Visitation with the family, Sunday, 5-6:30 p.m., at Cutler-O'Neill-Meyer-Woodring Funeral Home. Funeral service, Monday, 11 a.m., at the mortuary, with Rev. Ben Kenkel officiating. Interment, St. Joseph Cemetery. Memorials to Hospice with Heart preferred.
