In Memory: John W. Shrader

John W. Shrader, 79, of Neola died April 30 at Jennie Edmundson Hospital.

He was born January 23, 1923, to Raymond Shrader and Loretta Griffin. He moved to Neola 22 years ago. He attended South High School in Omaha. He served with the U.S. Navy World War II. He was a salesman for National Laboratory, retiring in 1988. He was a member of St. Patrick’s Church in Neola and South Omaha Eagles No. 154.

Mr. Shrader was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Ellen (Payne), in 2000.

Survivors include one daughter, Terri Wilbanks, and husband, Tom, of Omaha; two stepdaughters, Ann James and husband, Phillip, of Clinton, Missouri, and Margaret Maruska of Omaha; special friend, Carol Cain, of Grand Island, Nebraska; four grandchildren; five step-grandchildren; five great-grandchildren.

Memorial Mass was held Saturday at St. Patrick’s Church in Neola with the Rev. Dan Kirby officiating. Military service was conducted by America Legion Post Neola. There will be a private burial of ashes. The body has been cremated.

Memorials may be offered to the American Cancer Society. Belford-O’Neill Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
