In Memory: Delia E. Sturgeon
Delia E. Sturgeon, 67, of Audubon died June 9 at Southwest Iowa Medical Center.
She was born October 5, 1934, at her parent’s home near Audubon to Emil and Hildur Carlson Andreasen. She graduated from Audubon Community School in 953. She and her husband operated several farms in Audubon County and then purchased a farm east of Audubon in 1971. They operated the farm until 1989.
She was employed as a waitress at Lil’s Diner in Audubon and also was a waitress at the Denison Livestock Exchange. She moved from the farm into Audubon in December of 2000. She was a member of the First united Methodist Church in Audubon.
Mrs. Sturgeon was preceded in death by her husband, Richard A., on January 21, 1991, and an infant daughter, Christine Sturgeon.
Survivors include four daughters, Pam Swan and husband, Chuck, of Sioux City, Penny Buckingham and husband, Craig, of Treynor, Peggy Sornson and husband, Mark, of Treynor and Sonya Claman and husband, Jeff, of Boone; one son, Scott Sturgeon and wife, Kathy, of Rudd; one sister, Delores Larsen of Forrest City; two brothers, Lindyn Andreasen and wife, Lynn of Prosser, Washington and Gerald Andreasen and wife, Velma, of Ellston; 11 grandchildren; nieces; nephews; cousins.
Visitation with the family was held at Kessler Funeral Home in Audubon. The funeral was held Tuesday at 10:30 A.M. at the First United Methodist Church in Audubon. Burial was in the Maple Grove Cemetery in Audubon.
Note: Paper had stated that Scott Sturgeon was a brother. As Delia’s brothers were listed further down in the obit, it was assumed that Scott Sturgeon was actually a son.
