OMAHA - The funeral for Joe Mesic, 84, of Omaha will be Tuesday at 10 a.m. at St. Nicholas Serbian Orthodox Church, 5050 Harrison Street, Omaha with the Rev. Father Vojislav Dosenovich, officiating.
Mr. Mesic died Jan. 25 in Bellevue, Neb.
He was born Jan. 22, 1919, in Council Bluffs. He had retired as a Union Pacific Railroad switchman/conductor after 40 years of service.
He was preceded in death by his daughter, Yvonne Curry, parents Peter and Miliza, brothers Mike and Robert, and sister Mary.
Survivors include his wife, Mary; two daughters, Stephanie Paladino and husband, Frank, and Milli Scheer and husband, Rick; grandchildren, Ted and Lanette Hiers, Joey and Stacy Hiers; great-granddaughter, Megan Rose Hiers; stepgrandchildren, Paul, Paige and Jon Paladino; stepgreat-grandsons, Dominic, Tristen and Caden; brothers, John, Steve, Eli and Sam; sisters, Zora, Ann, Helen, Alice and Louise; numerous other relatives and friends.
Visitation will be today from 2 to 8 with a prayer service at 7 at Bethany Funeral Home, 82nd and Harrison Street in Omaha. Burial will be in Evergreen Memorial Park.
Memorials may be offered to St. Nicholas Serbian Orthodox Church.
