Earl E. Rankin

The funeral for Earl E. Rankin, 91, of Council Bluffs will be Thursday at 11 a.m. at Emanuel Lutheran Church with the Rev. Mark W. Kukkonen officiating.

Mr. Rankin died Jan. 12 at Jennie Edmundson Hospital.

He was born July 20, 1911, in Pauline, Neb., to John and Julia (Brandel) Rankin. He previously lived in Pauline, Genoa and Plainview, Neb., moving to Council Bluffs in 1938. He was an auto mechanic for Hughes Chevrolet and McIntyre Olds and Cadillac, retiring in 1991. He was a member of Emanuel Lutheran Church, where he served several terms on its council.

Mr. Rankin and his wife, Bernice V. (Burke), were married May 21, 1937, in Genoa.

Survivors in addition to his wife include one son, David Rankin and special friend, Jeannie Feller; granddaughter, Shelly Korisko and husband, Gary, of Millard, Neb.; grandson, Sean Rankin and wife, Angie, of Belleuve, Neb.; four great-grandchildren, Adam, Matthew, Tyler and Jessica; one sister, Dorothy Eckley of Omaha; one brother, Harvey Rankin of Council Bluffs; nieces and nephews.

Visitation with the family will be Wednesday from 6:30 to 8 p.m. at Cutler-O'Neill-Meyer-Woodring Funeral Home. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery, followed by a luncheon at the church.

Memorials may be offered to Emanuel Lutheran Church.
