Vernon E. Larson

Vernon E. "Rooster" Larson, 83, of Council Bluffs died Jan. 13 at his son Ron's home.

He was born Oct. 18, 1919, in Weston to Andrew and Karen (Hansen) Larson. He was a 1937 graduate of Underwood High School. He farmed for many years in Underwood and also was active in the trucking business and custom farming. He was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Boomer Township, Farm Bureau and Past President of Farmers Union.

Survivors include two daughters, Barbara Hoyt and husband, James, of Phoenix and Patricia Trumbull and husband, Joe, of Atlanta; two sons, Ron and wife, Carolyn, and Gary and wife, Sandy, all of Council Bluffs; two sisters, Helen Petersen and husband, Victor, of Council Bluffs and Ethel Torneten of McClelland; grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Visitation with the family will be Friday from 6 to 8 p.m. at Cutler-O'Neill-Meyer-Woodring Funeral Home. The funeral will be Saturday at 10 a.m. at St. Paul's Lutheran Church with the Rev. Charles Bichel officiating. Burial will be in Grange Cemetery.

Memorials may be offered to Bethany Lutheran and American Cancer Society.
