On June 10, 1959 Christian John Madison died at Mercy Hospital in Council Bluffs, Iowa. He was 74 years of age. Cause of death: atherioschlerosis; Generalized severe
pneumonia- bilateral lower lobes; mesenteric thrombosis.

Following is the Obituary as copied from The Nonpariel dated June 12, 1959:

Chris J. Madison, 74, 127 W. Fleming Ave., died Wednesday at a local hospital following a six month illness.

Mr. Madison was born in Council Bluffs. He farmed many years in the Dunlap area before returning to Council Bluffs in 1941. He was a member of St. Francis Church.

Mr. and Mrs. Madison observed their 52nd wedding anniversary last month.

Survivors include: Widow, Mayme (Holihan); four daughters, Mrs. Lester Goodman, Mrs. Robert Hemmingsen and Mrs. Dorlan Carbery, all of Council Bluffs, and Mrs. Wayne Travis of Nitro, W. Va.; son, Harold of Grandby, Mo.; three sisters, Mrs. John Jensen of Ute, Mrs. Jens Jensen of Onawa, and Mrs. Clyde Morlan of Arlington, Calif.; 17 grandchildren and 18 great grandchildren.
