The following obituary is copied from the Council Bluffs, Iowa Nonpariel dated Wed., April 6, 2005:

Bette M. Hunter, 81, of Council Bluffs died April 4 at Jennie Edmundson Hospital.

She was born March 3, 1924, in Dunlap to Lester F. and Bernice M. (Madison) Goodman. She was a homemaker and member of St. Peter’s Catholic Church and St. Anne’s Altar Society.

Mrs. Hunter was preceded in death by her husband, Daniel C. Hunter, on Sept. 11, 1995. She was also preceded in death by parents and sister, Audrey Wheeler.

Survivors include three sons, Steve Hunter and wife, Priscila of Garland, Texas, Keith Hunter and wife, Denise, of Oklahoma City, Okla., and Mark A. Hunter and wife, Mary A., of Arlington, Neb.; 15 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren; three sisters, Virginia Carberry of Council Bluffs, Ruth Messerli and husband Paul, of Council Bluffs, and Nadine Watson and husband, Walter, of Council Bluffs; brother, John Goodman, of Council Bluffs, brother-in-law, Bill Wheeler, of Council Bluffs, aunt, Ruth Carberry of Crescent, nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be Thursday from 6 to 8 p.m. with Rosary service at 7 p.m. at Cutler-O’Neill-Meyer-Woodring Chapel. The funeral will be Friday at 10 a.m. at St. Peter’s Church with the Rev. Charles Kotas officiating. Burial will be in Cedar Lawn Cemetery, followed by a luncheon at St. Peter’s.

Memorials may be offered to St. Peter’s Catholic Church.
