Stephen C. Meade

Mass of Christian burial for Stephen Carl Meade, 79, of Council Bluffs will be Friday at 10:30 a.m. at St. Patrick's Church with the Rev. John O. Bertogli officiating.

Mr. Meade died Jan. 7 at home.

He was born Jan. 30, 1923, in Missouri Valley. He graduated from Missouri Valley High School. He served with the U.S. Air Force during World War II. He was a self-employed contractor and a member of St. Patrick's Church. He lived in Council Bluffs 60 years.

Mr. Meade and his wife, Josephine (Leggio), were married 55 years.

Survivors in addition to his wife include three daughters, Joanne Rasmussen and husband, Conrad, and Julie Richards and husband, Mike, all of Council Bluffs, and Patty Failla and husband, Tom, of Omaha; two sons, Bud and wife, Charlotte, of Council Bluffs and Tom and wife, Becky, of Des Moines; two sisters, Mildred Matney and husband, George, of Omaha and Wanda M. Olsen and husband, Kenny, of Missouri Valley; three brothers, Kenny and wife, Judy, of Council Bluffs, Earl and wife, Jean, of Bennington, Neb., and Gilbert of Missouri Valley; 14 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren.

Prayer service will be tonight at 7 followed by family visitation at St. Patricks Church. Burial will be in St. Joseph Cemetery with military rites conducted by American Legion Post No. 2. Cutler-O'Neill-Meyer-Woodring Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Memorials may be offered to St. Patrick's Church, American Parkinson's Disease Association and Alegent Health Hospice.
