In Memory: Wade Hursey

Wade Hursey, 33, of Flandreau, South Dakota died May 10, 2003.

Wade was born on December 25, 1969, to Melvin and Marsha (Zolk) Hursey. He attended Shelby-Tennant Community High School in Shelby, Iowa, graduating in 1988.

He attended Waterloo Community College for two years and received his degree in agronomy. He obtained his pilot's license and then moved to Flandreau, South Dakota, in 1993 and worked for Cenex as an agronomist.

In 1994, he started his own business, Aerial Blades Crop Spraying Service. He sprayed in the Flandreau area and in the region including Nebraska, Iowa, Minnesota and South Dakota. He also sprayed for the federal government in Colorado.

Wade enjoyed Nascar Racing, flying, skiing and antiques. Wade prided himself on his ability to design, fix and create whatever he needed in his business and home.

He was a member of Ss. Simon and Jude Catholic Church, Flandreau Jaycees. and the SD Pilots Assn.

Wade is survived by his wife, Allison Flandreau; 2 daughters, Madeline and Elizabeth, both at home, his parents Melvin and Marsha Hursey, Shelby, Iowa; 1 brother, David Hursey, Deerfield, Illinois; and his grandparents Marcella and George Jones, Omaha, Nebraska.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Holly and Arvilla Hursey and Elmer Zolk.

A scripture service was held Tuesday, May 13 at 7:00 p.m. at the Skroch Funeral Chapel. Mass of Christian Burial was held Wednesday, May 14, 10:30 a.m. at Ss. Simon and Jude Catholic Church with the Father Richard Fox as celebrant.

Graveside services were held Thursday, May 15 at 1 p.m. at the Shelby Cemetery in Shelby, Iowa.

Memorials will be used to establish a scholarship fund in Wade's name for a student attending college pursuing an Agronomy Degree.
