In Memory: Joyce A. Wohlers

Joyce A. Wohlers, 64, of Council Bluff's, formerly of the Beebeetown area, died December 29, 2003 at Methodist Hospital in Omaha.

Mrs. Wohlers was born May 11, 1939 in Moorhead to M. Lawrence and Gladys Opal (McWilliams) Carrigan.

She graduated from Underwood High School in 1957 and worked as a medical records specialist at Jennie Edmundson Hospital.

She was a member of St. John Lutheran Church in Council Bluffs and a former member of St. John Lutheran Church in Honey Creek.

Mrs. Wohlers was preceded in death by her husband of 28 years, Glenn, in 1987 and her father in 1995.

Survivors include two daughters, Rhonda Hawks and her husband Howard of Omaha and Jolene Wohlers of Austin, Texas; a son, David and his wife Amy of Missouri Valley; mother, Gladys Carrigan of Underwood; three sisters, Marian Meiby, Marlene Merdinger and her husband James and Elaine Bostwick and her husband Gerald; two brothers, Burle Carrigan and his wife Alice and Roger Carrigan and his wife Marge; four sisters-in-law, Arlene Driver, Wilma Clark, Gladys Blois and her husband Derald and Rita Bean; grandchildren Lisa and Rachel Masker and Jake and Joe Wohlers; nieces and nephews.

Visitation with the family was Tuesday evening at Cutler-O'Neill-Meyer-Woodring Funeral Chapel with a prayer service at 7:30 p.m.

The funeral was planned for Wednesday at 11 a.m. at St. John Lutheran Church, 633 Willow Avenue in Council Bluffs, with the Rev. Jon Benson officiating.

Burial was to be at Grange Cemetery with a luncheon following at St. John Lutheran Church in Honey Creek.

Memorials may be offered to the Council Bluffs Public Library for children’s books.
