In Memory: Gloria Ruckman

Gloria M. Ruckman, 69, of Council Bluffs, died August 10, 2003 in a house fire at her residence.

She was born September 12, 1933 at Bentley to John Scott and Erma Ryan. She raised her brothers and sisters after their mother died and graduated from Underwood High School in 1951.

She worked in housekeeping at the Underwood Post Office and Jennie Edmundson Hospital, retiring from the hospital in 1984.

Gloria was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Neola, where she taught Sunday School.

She was preceded in death by her husband Duane (Cotton).

Survivors include two daughters, Peggy Cieslik and her husband Larry of Bellevue, Nebraska and Wanda Haston of Elkhorn, Nebraska; a son, Chuck P. and his wife Rhonda of Council Bluffs; 14 grandchildren and one great grandchild; a sister, Maggie Pearcy and her husband Leland of Council Bluffs; two brothers, Patrick Ryan and his wife Judy of Atlantic and Paul Ryan of Council Bluffs; nieces and nephews.

Visitation was planned Wednesday from 7-8:30 p.m. at Cutler-O'Neill-Meyer-Woodring Funeral Home in Council Bluffs.

Funeral service was set for Thursday at 11 a.m. at the First Presbyterian Church in Neola with the Rev. Dean Sparr officiating.

Burial was to be in the Neola Township Cemetery with luncheon to follow at the church.
