In Memory: Ruth D. Major

Ruth D. Major, 82, of Council Bluffs died April 1 at Jennie Edmundson Hospital.

She was born November 20, 1921, in Soldier to Ole and Margith (Ovstaas) Engebretson. She formerly lived in Underwood. She was a homemaker and formerly worked at the Underwood Grocery Store. She was a member of Underwood Lutheran Church.

Mrs. Major was preceded in death by her husband, Tony B. Major, on April 11, 1989. She was also preceded by parents, sisters, brothers and a grandson.

Survivors include daughter, Toni Fehr, of Underwood; sons, Donald Major and wife, Kris, Garlyn Major and wife, Jackie, and Merlyn Major and wife, Carolyn, all of Council Bluffs; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews; sisters-in-law, Agnes and Lucille Engebretson, both of Council Bluffs.

Visitation with the family was held Sunday afternoon at Cutler-O'Neill-Meyer-Woodring Funeral Home. The funeral was held Monday at 11 a.m. at the funeral home with the Rev. Dr. Eberhard A. Hering of Underwood Lutheran Church officiating.

Burial was in Fisher Cemetery in Underwood.
