In Memory: Eleanor Zimmerman

Eleanor Jane (Smith) Zimmerman, 71, of Council Bluffs died August 7.

She was born July 17, 1932, in Council Bluffs to Earl and Alice Smith. She was a 1950 graduate of Abraham Lincoln High School. She was an administrative assistant for local doctors' offices for many years. She was a member of St. John's United Church of Christ. She was a 50 year member Beta Sigma Phi.

Mrs. Zimmerman and her husband, Paul F., were married 49 years. She was preceded in death by her sister, Virginia Bengston.

Survivors, in addition to her husband, include son, Bill, of Council Bluffs; brothers, Glenn W. Smith and wife, Leora, and Robert Lee Smith and wife, Dorothy, both of Council Bluffs; sisters, Marjorie Bolton of Underwood, Barbara Hoover and husband, Richard, of Sugarland, Texas, and Jo Ann Tiarks and husband, Don, of McClelland.

Visitation with the family was held Sunday from 6:30 t6 8 p.m. at Cutler-O'Neill-Meyer-Woodring Funeral Home. Funeral services were held Monday at 11 a.m. at the funeral home with the Rev. Tony Paff, pastor of St. John's United Church of Christ officiating.

Burial was in Memorial Park Cemetery with a luncheon following at the church.

Memorials may be offered to St. John's United Church of Christ.
