In Memory: Richard Payne

Richard "Dick" Earl Payne, 72, of Council Bluffs died April 28 at home.

He was born in Council Bluffs. He was a retired U.S. Postal Carrier with 30 years of service.

Mr. Payne and his wife, Norma, were married 50 years. He was preceded in death by his parents, Emma and Raymond, grandson, Ryan and sister Jean Kay.

Survivors in addition to his wife include sons, Rick and wife, Connie, of Persia, Larry and wife, Cindy, of Henderson, Bill and wife, Wendy, of Missouri Valley; daughter, Amy Tremel and husband, Don, of Earling; nine grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; brother, Robert Warner.

Visitation was held Friday evening at McCurdy Funeral Home. The funeral was held Saturday at 11 a.m. at the funeral home with Pastor Mark Kukkonen from Emanuel Lutheran Church officiating.

Burial followed at Garner Township Cemetery with military rites conducted by American Legion Rainbow Post No. 2.
