In Memory: Mary Ellen Wellman

Mary Ellen Wellman, 72, of Des Moines, died March 20 in Des Moines.

She was born December 19, 1931 in Omaha, Nebraska to Floyd and Bernice (Talty) Zimmerman. She graduated from St. Joseph's High School in 1949 and in 1952 from Creighton School of Nursing.

Mary Ellen and Paul Wellman were married 51 years.

Survivors in addition to her husband, include four sons Paul J. and wife Bonnie of College Station, Texas; Richard and wife Kathy of Bloomington, Illinois; Stan and wife Janene of Ottumwa, Iowa and Chuck and wife Lori, of Des Moines, Iowa; grandchildren Alex, Kristen, Chad, Michael, Katie, Joe, Kellie and Kari; sisters Jean and husband Dick of Neola and Anne and husband Richard of Des Moines; brothers Bill and wife Imelda of Wasco, California; Donald and wife Mary Ellen of Neola and Joe and wife Joann of Des Moines.

Visitation was held Tuesday at Iles Funeral Home. Funeral was held Wednesday at St. Theresa's Church in Des Moines and burial at St. Patrick's Cemetery in Neola.
