In Memory: Marjorie A. Nihsen
(August 10, 1925 - May 8, 2003)

Marjorie Nihsen, 77, of Minden, died May 8 at Myrtue Hospital in Harlan. She was a lifelong resident of rural Minden.

She was born in Council Bluffs and graduated from high school in 1943. She was a 1946 graduate of Jennie Edmundson Nursing School and was board certified in Wisconsin, Nebraska, Iowa and New Jersey. She worked for Dr. Klok in Council Bluffs for 27 years. She retired in the late 1970's to stay home and take care of her mother.

Marjorie and her brother, Edwin, lived on the family farm in rural Avoca. She survived a bout of breast cancer seven years ago, and in December of 2002, she was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer.

Marjorie was preceded in death by her father, Chris, and her mother, Anna.

Survivors include her brother, Edwin, other relatives and many friends.

Visitation with the family was held Sunday evening at Pauley Knutson Funeral Home in Avoca.

Funeral services were held Monday at 10:30 a.m. at the Minden United Church of Christ with the Rev. Denny Peterson officiating.

Burial was in the Minden Cemetery.
