In Memory: Gene Albert Manz

Gene Albert Manz, 75, died June 2, 2003 at his Council Bluffs residence.

He was born October 10, 1927 at Shelby, Iowa to Walter and Elizabeth Jensen Manz. He attended Shelby Community School and served in the United States Marine Corps during World War II.

He was employed at Broadway Cleaners for 20 years and then Shared Services until he retired in 1991. He was a member of Holy Family Church.

Mr. Manz was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Lois Cozad; and a grandson, Benjamin J. Manz.

Survivors include his wife of 52 years, Margaret (Reisz) of Council Bluffs; four daughters, Debra Janecek and her husband Rick, Kathleen Sealock and her husband Jim, Sheryl Husz and her husband Del and Cynthia Kaufman and her husband Steve, all of Council Bluffs; five sons, Stephen and his wife Sharon of Council Bluffs, Christopher and his wife Linda of Council Bluffs, Ronald and his wife Victoria of Crescent, and Michael and his wife Kristi of Arvada, Colorado; two brothers, Jack of Atlantic and Lee and his wife Neva of Avoca; a sister, Lacrine Zastrow of Cumberland, Maryland; 22 grandchildren; and 5 great grandchildren.

A wake service was to be held Wednesday at 6:30 p.m. at Holy Family Church with visitation to follow until 8:30 p.m.

Mass of Christian Burial is Thursday at 10:30 a.m. at the church with Father Ken Gross as celebrant.

Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery with a luncheon to follow at the church.

Memorials may be offered to Alegent Hospice and Holy Family Church.
