In Memory: Helen L. Whyte

Funeral for Helen L. Whyte, 79, of Council Bluffs was held Thursday at Belford-O'Neill Funeral Home with the Rev. Lowell Knauss of Grace Presbyterian Church officiating.

Mrs. Whyte died May 14 at Indian Hills Nursing Center.

She was born February 26, 1922, in Omaha and was adopted by Lee and Hazel (Porter) Pogge. She lived in the Neola-Underwood area and graduated from Neola Public High School in 1940. She worked at the Home Cafe and worked in housekeeping at Jennie Edmundson Hospital for 16 years, retiring in 1984. She was a member of Grace Presbyterian and Gethsemane Presbyterian churches and the Eagles Club.

Mrs. Whyte was preceded in death by her husband, Riley, in 1980.

Survivors include two daughters, Sharon Arrowsmith and husband, Ron, of Council Bluffs and Glenda Lacey of Anaheim, California; a son, Bill, and wife, Donna, of Bellevue, Nebraska; 10 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren and a special friend, Lloyd Jones, of Council Bluffs.

Visitation with the family was held at the funeral home. Burial was in the Neola Township Cemetery, followed by a lunch at Grace Presbyterian Church.

Memorials may be offered to Grace Presbyterian Church.
