In Memory: Gerald Turk

Gerald Turk, 70, of Council Bluffs died April 9 at Jennie Edmundson Hospital.

He was born in Shelby to Harry and Goldie (Schottwell) Turk, graduated from Shelby High School in 1950 and moved to Council Bluffs in 1955. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War.

He worked at Wilson's Packing House for 19 years, worked for crown Rubber in Ralston, Nebraska and Kitty Clover and retired from Future Foam.

He was a member of the Westend Optimist Club, the Clodhoppers Square Dance Club and Our Savior's Lutheran Church. He was active with the election board and volunteered for Meals on Wheels.

Survivors include his wife of 46 years, Millie; a daughter Cheryl Izzo and husband Mike of Omaha; four sans, Curtis, Richard, Robert and wife Jacque, all of Council Bluffs, and Jeff of Glenwood; two sisters, Lois Jean Griswold and husband Steve of Sun City, Arizona and Shirley Schuster and husband Charles of Juneau, Wisconsin; two brothers, Dale and wife Florence and Donnie and wife Kathy, all of Council Bluffs; eight grandchildren and four great grandchildren.

A prayer service was to be held Wednesday evening at 6 p.m. at Meyer-Woodring Funeral Home, followed by family visitation until 8 p.m.

Funeral will be Thursday at 2 p.m. at the funeral home with the Rev. Duane Anunson of Our Savior's Lutheran Church officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery.

Memorials may be offered to Our Savior's Lutheran Church Building Fund.
