Patricia Ann Kenney

Patricia Ann Kenney, age 83, died on February 17, 2008, at Bethany Lutheran Home in Council Bluffs from cancer.

Patricia was born September 24, 1924, in Columbus, Neb., to Allen and Ernestine Nather Hayes. Patricia graduated from St. Bonaventure High School in Columbus, Neb., in 1942 and graduated from St. Catherine's Hospital School of Nursing in 1948 as a cadet nurse. Patricia married Bernard E. Kenney MD at St. Bernard's Catholic Church in Omaha on June 10, 1949. Her beloved Bernard passed away in 1968. Patricia worked for many years as a clerk for the Pottawattamie County Board of Mental Health. Her interests included reading, history, politics, nature and good conversation. She was a member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church.

Patricia was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Allan Jr., "Bud" and Richard "Dick" Hayes; sister, Elizabeth "Lib" Langan.

Patricia is survived by her 5 children, Mary Catherine of Bielefeld, Germany, Daniel and wife Diane of Council Bluffs, Margaret Kenney and husband Ric Anderson of Omaha, Joseph and wife Lisa of Neola, and Robert of Omaha; grandchildren, (Bernard) Jason, Sara, Elaine, Sean, Colin, Ryan, and Meghan; and by her great-grandchildren, Alyssa, Alexandria, and Rylee; sisters, Dorothy Cuba of Lincoln, Catherine Putnam of Columbus, Neb., Margaret (Sister Christine OSF) of Mt. St. Francis, Colo., and sister-in-law, Violet Hayes of Omaha; and many cherished nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be Wednesday from 6 to 8 p.m. with Rosary at 6:30 p.m. at Maher-Livingston Funeral Home. Mass of Christian Burial will be Thursday at 11:00 a.m. at St. Patrick's Catholic Church, 223 Harmony St., Council Bluffs, with interment following at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to Alegent Hospice or St. Patrick's Catholic Church.
