Fredrick J. "Fritz" Wellman

F. J. "Fritz" Wellman, age 81, of Neola, Iowa passed away February 11, 2008, at Jennie Edmundson Hospital.

A native of Neola, born September 8, 1926, to Fred and Caroline (Masker) Wellman. Fritz graduated from St. Joseph High School in 1944, and spent three years in the Army-Air Force during World War II. Fritz and Vel Quinn were married on December 23, 1946, and have lived in Neola since. Fritz was a farmer and also a carpenter for Rodenburg-Wellman Construction Company. Memberships included Neola American Legion Post 330, St.Patrick's Church.

He is preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Leonard, Max and Philip.

Survivors include wife, Vel; daughters, Fritzi Christiansen and Kevon of Longmont, Colorado, Diane Rodenburg and Fred of Neola, Linda Ring and Mike of Council Bluffs, Peggy Thielen, all of Neola; sons, David, of Neola, and Dan and Cathey of Platteville, Colorado; 18 grandchildren; 23 great grandchildren; sisters, Rita Honz and Don of Omaha, Theonita Nelson and Thelma Christiansen, and sister-in- law, Theresa Wellman, all of Neola.

Visitation Thursday 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m., with a Wake Service at 7:00 p.m. at St. Patrick's Church Neola. Mass of Christian Burial Friday 10:30 a.m. also at Church. Interment Neola, Iowa with military rites at grave tendered by American Legion Post #330. Luncheon to follow at Church Hall.
