In Memory: Bernadette Stroebele

Bernadette L. Stroebele, 90, of Council Bluffs died February 2 at home.

She was born April 28, 1914, in Minden to Peter L. and Katie B. (Haas) Langer Jr. She previously lived in Hancock, moving to Council Bluffs in 1962. She graduated in Minden in 1931. She farmed with her husband for 28 years then was a sales associate in the Millinery Department of Kilpatrick's Department Store in Omaha from 1962-1966 and Microfilm Operator for Pottawattamie County Recorders Office from 1966-1979. She was a member of Timothy Lutheran Church.

Mrs. Stroebele was preceded in death by her husband, Wilbert J. "Webb" Stroebele, on March 2, 2003. She was also preceded by a son, Gerald Stroebele, in 1996.

Survivors include daughter, Kathryn Stroebele of Topeka, Kansas; son, W. John Stroebele and wife, Joan, of McClelland; seven grandchildren, Nancy Carlson, Jay Stroebele, Carol Dawson, Susan Berning; David Stroebele, Jon Stroebele and Jill Struyk; nine great-grandchildren; daughter-in-law, Lee Stroebele of Dyersville; sister, Belva Hansen of Avoca; brother, Chester Langer, living in California.

Visitation was held Sunday with a prayer service at CutlerO'Neill-Meyer-Woodring Funeral Home. The funeral was held Monday at 10:30 a.m: at Timothy Lutheran Church with the Rev. Michael Petri officiating. Burial was Monday at 1:30 p.m. at Oaklawn Cemetery in Oakland.

Memorials may be offered to Timothy Lutheran Church Elevator Fund or Council Bluffs Public Library.
