Betty Langer

AVOCA - The funeral for Betty Langer, 72, of Avoca will be Thursday at 10:30 a.m. at Trinity Lutheran Church in Avoca with the Rev. Lou Hoger and Lay Assistant Wayne Paulsen officiating.

Mrs. Langer died Dec. 29 at Immanuel Medical Center in Omaha. She was born in Avoca. She was a 1947 graduate of Avoca High School. She was valedictorian. She was a homemaker and a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, American Legion Auxiliary, and a six-year member of Pottawattamie County Family Living Committee.

Mrs. Langer and her husband, Donald "Slim", were married 55 years.

Survivors in addition to her husband include two daughters, Laurie Tietjen and husband, Craig, of Lawrence, Kan., and Lynette Keagle and husband, Charles, of Avoca; two sons, Douglas of Shelby and Dennis and wife, Penny, of Hancock; four sisters, Lorene Nelson of Avoca, Mildred Petersen of Avoca, Bertha Kixmiller and husband, Robert, of Avoca and Wilma Klindt and husband, David, of Avoca; one brother, Everette Carroll, and wife, Sandy, of Avoca; eight grandchildren; five great-grandchildren.

Visitation with the family will be Wednesday from 7 to 8 p.m. at Knutson Funeral Home in Avoca. Burial will be in Minden Cemetery in Minden.
