Willis F. 'Bill' Johnson

Willis F. "Bill" Johnson, 84, of Council Bluffs died Dec. 25 at Jennie Edmundson Memorial Hospital.

He was born in Council Bluffs on July 11, 1918, to Sherman and Myrtle (Hansen) Johnson. He lived in Council Bluffs until 1950; in Denver from 1950-70; and in Council Bluffs again from 1970 to 2002.

He was assistant director of the Vocational Development Center in Council Bluffs from 1970-81. He was an active member of the B.P.O. Elks Lodge No. 531. He was named Elk of the Year in 1995 and Longest Tyler, with 22 years in the Elks Club. He was also involved with Swing for the Handicapped.

Survivors include a daughter, Rosalie Hendricks of Colorado Springs, Colo.; two sisters, Shirley Adams of Council Bluffs and Helen Guill of Springfield, Mo.

Visitation with family will be tonight from 7 to 8 at Cutler-O'Neill-Meyer-Woodring Funeral Home.

Funeral service will be Saturday at 9 a.m. at the funeral Home with the Rev. Roger Prescott officiating. An 11 O'clock Elk Toast will be given by Richard Boysen.
