Council Bluffs, November 24, 1973. Carl "Jack" SARRATT. Carl J. "Jack" Sarratt, 58, died Saturday at an Omaha hospital following an extended illness. He was a lifetime resident of Council Bluffs. Sarratt retired in November of 1969 after 30 years service as a switchman for the Union Pacific Railroad. Prior to his railroad career, he worked for the Wickham Construction Co. Sarratt was an avid fisherman and hunter. He formerly served in the National Guard and was a member of the Brotherhood of Railroad Trainmen. Survivors include his widow, Jennie B. Sarratt; two daughters, Judy Book and Jayne Brown, both of Council Bluffs; three brothers, Harold Sarratt of Council Bluffs; George "Mick" Sarratt of Honey Creek; and Mannie Sarratt of Phoenix, Ariz.; sister, Lucille Boyce of San Clemente, Calif., and a half sister, Betty Cummings of Las Vegas, Nev. Funeral services will be Monday at 3 p.m. at the Meyer Chapel. Richard D. Hogan, pastor of the First Christian Church, will officiate. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. end
