Reverend Nancy Joan Ranney, age 69, passed away November 6, 2007, at Mercy Hospital.

Joan was born in Council Bluffs, on May 22, 1938, to the late Roy O. and V. Ruth McNeil. She graduated from Thomas Jefferson High School, in 1956, and received her Masters In Divinity Degree. Reverend Ranney was a United Methodist Minister, serving in the following congregations: Camden, Mo., Guide Rock, Neb., Evanston, Wyo., Fremont, Neb., Alders Gate, in Omaha, Neb., Southminster, in Lincoln, Neb., and St. James, Bellevue, Neb.

Joan is preceded in death by her parents; daughter, Janet Ranney; sisters, Marjorie Gugler and Betty Osborne; brother, Jack McNeil.

Joan is survived by her husband, of 49 years, Dr. Gene Ranney, of Council Bluffs; sons, Dr. Tim Ranney and wife Marcia, of Kearney, Neb., and Keith Ranney, of Kansas City, Mo.; granddaughters, Danielle and Alyssa Ranney; sister, Sandra McNeil, of Council Bluffs.

Visitation will be held Thursday, from 6-8 p.m., at Cutler-O'Neill-Meyer-Woodring Funeral Home. Funeral services, Friday, 10:30 a.m., Broadway United Methodist Church. Interment Garner Township Cemetery. Luncheon will follow at church.

Memorials to the Council Bluffs Food Bank preferred.
