Stowe William Tamms, Jr., 72 years, of Council Bluffs, passed away October 8, 2007.

He was born in Avoca, Iowa, to the late William and Ruth (Shaffert) Tamms, Sr., on April 28, 1935. William lived most of his life in Council Bluffs, and was a truck driver for the Iowa Department of Transportation, for 20 years.

He is survived by daughters, Ruth Godfrey and husband Jim, of Council Bluffs, Vicki Roberts and husband Leo, of Oakland, Iowa, Deborah Tamms, of Blackshear, Ga., Tammie Kane, of Oregon, Robin Stowe, of Alabama; son, William P. Tamms, of Council Bluffs; eight grandchildren; 7 great grandchildren; brother, Tom Tamms and wife Sarah, of Council Bluffs; nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be Thursday, from 2-3 p.m., with funeral service following at 3 p.m., at Cutler-O'Neill-Meyer-Woodring Funeral Home. Cremation will follow the service.

Memorials will be directed by the family.
