The Rev. Lloyd Leland Huffey, age 73, of Des Moines, Iowa died Sunday, February 22, 1987 in Blue Springs, Missouri from complications of diabetes. Services were held Wednesday, February 25 at Southside Assembly of God Church in Des Moines, where he had been a pastor for 22 years. Burial was in Rising Sun Cemetery, Runnells, Iowa.

He was born August 22, 1913 to Walter and Tilda (Olson) Huffey near Postville, Iowa in Allamakee County, Iowa. He attended local schools. He was a trucker. He lived in the Waterville, Iowa and Waukon, Iowa areas in Allamakee County. He went to California where he owned and operated a dairy farm in Norwalk, California. He married Myrtle Bader on January 1, 1937 in Van Nuys, California. He spent many years as a traveling evangelist in Iowa, Missouri, Nebraska, Arkansas, and Kansas. He published a book, "Miracle Miles" in 1983 which tells of many of his life experiences.

Survivors include his wife, Myrtle; 5 daughters, Lillian Smith of Hokah, Minnesota, Barbara Gardner of Lawson, Missouri, Thelma Ranstrom of Simi, California, Darlene Lawson of Plattsburg, Missouri, and Irene Nelson of Fayetteville, Arkansas; 9 sons, Wesley Huffey of Van Nuys, California, Bill Huffey and Richard Huffey, both of Watsonville, California, Jim Huffey and Ron Huffey, both of Sylmar, California, and Jerry Huffey and Ernest Huffey, both of Des Moines, Iowa; 3 brothers, Vinton Huffey of Monrovia, California, Vernon Huffey of Storm Lake, Iowa, and George Huffey of Waterville, Iowa; 6 sisters, Shirley Brown of Waterloo, Iowa, Greta Lockhart of Brownsville, Minnesota, Merle Schultz, Leatrice McEvilly, and Lotus Bulman, all 3 of Caledonia, Minnesota, and Esther Enyart of Lancaster, Texas; 34 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
