Betty Ellen Clark, 94, died February 2, 2011, at Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis, Indiana, from complications following surgery.

The family will receive friends from 3:30 to 5:30 p.m. Sunday at Iles Funeral Homes-Westover Chapel, where a funeral service will be held at 5:30 p.m. Graveside services will be held 11 a.m. Monday at the Dunreath Cemetery in rural Marion County.

Betty was born January 2, 1917, at Harvey, Iowa, the daughter of Fern and John Whaley. She made her home in Fairfield, Iowa following her marriage to Marion P. Clark in 1945. Betty has been a resident of Beaverdale Estates the past eight years. She was a member of the New Hope United Methodist Church.

Betty is survived by her three daughters, Mariana Dubbert of Windsor Heights, Barb (Dick) Nelson of Urbandale and Lucy (Aus) Brooks of Crawfordsville, Indiana; two sisters, Frances (Bob) Smith of Hartford, and Martha Hyde of Yorba Linda, California, and one brother, Bob Whaley of Nashville, TN. Betty leaves seven grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews who will miss her greatly. She was preceded in death by her husband, her daughter, Susan Clark and two brothers, Jack and Warren Whaley.

In lieu of flowers the family requests memorials to your local food pantry or New Hope United Methodist Church.
