James Edward Davidson, 80, of Ankeny, made his journey to heaven January 29, 2011, from his home, while under the care of Iowa Hospice.
A brief funeral service will be held at 2 p.m., February 3, at the Ankeny Memorial Funeral Chapel (4208 North Ankeny Blvd.), with burial to follow, at Ankeny Memorial Gardens.
He was born near Ankeny, September 25, 1930, and served his country in the U.S. Navy, during the Korean Conflict, on the USS Juneau, and as a signalman on the Battleship USS New Jersey.
After retiring from Firestone, Jim was a "winter Texan" in Mission, TX for many years. He loved to travel and build grandfather clocks for family.
Jim is survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Edna; his sons, Edward and Danny; his sister, Maryllin Tollanaar; dearest friend, Paula Luce; Grandchildren, Amanda, Alicia, James, and Heather; Great-grandchild, Genevieve; two sisters-in-law, Ellen and Jean Davidson, and one Brother-in-law, Gerald Cook.
He was preceded in death by his son, Rusty, his parents, his brothers, Charles, Robert, and Gerald, his sister, Lucille Wheeler, and his Mother-in-law, Velma Reinertson.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Iowa Hospice or the Ankeny Fire Department.
