Ronald L. Crabb, 70, of Altoona, died peacefully, with his family by his side, on Monday, February 27, 2012 at Bright Kavanagh House in Des Moines of complications of cancer. Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Friday, March 2, at Iles Funeral Homes-Grandview Park Chapel. Burial will be at Sunset Memorial Gardens Cemetery.
Ronald LeRoy Crabb was born on January 13, 1942 in Osceola, IA to the late Kenneth and Agnes (Hall) Crabb. He graduated from East High School in Des Moines before serving from 1960 to 1964 in the U.S. Navy. Ron worked for 33 years at John Deere Des Moines Works and was an U.A.W. No. 450 retiree. He was a member the Elks Lodge No. 98 and the Corvette Club. Ron enjoyed cars, live music and travel. He will be remembered as a kind man who was devoted to his family.
Those left to cherish Ron's memory include his three children, John Downing (Kelly), Robin Lang (Brian Simpson) and Lance Crabb (Kimberly Hoft); sister, Beverly Byerly (Daniel); eleven grandchildren; seven great- grandchildren and two nieces.
Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to the charity of the donor's choice.
