Theresa Vidal Spear, 83, passed away on Wednesday, August 22, 2012 at Mercy Hospice in Johnston. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10:30 a.m. Monday, August 27, 2012 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in West Des Moines with burial at Resthaven Cemetery.
Theresa was born February 22, 1929 in San Antonio, TX to Miguel and Angela (Guerrero) Vidal. Theresa had been a member of Sacred Heart Parish since 1964 and also a member of the Legion of Mary. She retired in 1991 after over 20 years with the Federal Civil Service.
At the time of her passing, Theresa's husband of 54 years, Jack was at her side and she was surrounded by the love of her family and friends. She is also survived by her children, Rick (Nicole) Spear and Sue Spear; granddaughter, Olivia; sister, Rosa Fernandez; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Preceding her in death were her siblings, Alicia, Isador, Trinidad, Frances, and Antonio; and grandson, Gabriel.
Visitation will be from 4 to 6 p.m. Sunday, at McLaren's Chapel with a 6 p.m. Rosary Service. Memorials may be directed to Sacred Heart Catholic Church or Mercy Hospice.
