MacIntyre, Duncan “Doug” F. - 1922-2012

Duncan MacIntyre, 89, entered eternal life after a brief illness on August 1, 2012 at Kavanagh Hospice House on 56th Street. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 1 p.m., Monday, August 6 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church. The family will greet friends at the church Sunday evening from 4 to 6 p.m. with a Rosary Service at 6 p.m.
Duncan was born in Big Pond, Nova Scotia, Canada on September 8, 1922 to Edwin and Jane MacIntyre. Duncan served in the Canadian Air Force. He was employed at Massey Ferguson when he was transferred to the United States from Toronto, Canada. After many years at Massey Ferguson, he was then employed with the State of Iowa before retiring. He enjoyed spending time with his family and friends, sharing stories and loved hockey and golf. Duncan was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church and Knights of Columbus.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Florence, in 2006; son, Kevin, in 2000; parents, and siblings, Roderick, Hector, Michael, Hugh, Thomas, Alex, Pius, Angela MacKinnon, Hilda MacPherson and Margaret Campbell. Those left to cherish his memory include his daughter, Sheila MacIntyre of West Des Moines and sister, Catherine MacIntyre.
Memorials may be directed to Alzheimer's Association or to Sacred Heart Catholic Church.
