Gorsuch, Constance Eleanor Reynolds Newton – 1921-2012

Constance Eleanor Gorsuch was born December 2, 1921 to Alfonzo and Eleanor (Hofmann) Reynolds. She slipped into the hands of God on March 19, 2012 at Calvin Community, surrounded by family.
She was raised in South Des Moines where she lived most of her life. She was a proud graduate of Lincoln High School (Class of 1940), a member of Clifton Heights Presbyterian Church, retired from American Republic Insurance, and enjoyed the meals and fellowship at the Southside Senior Center before moving to Calvin Community. She had an adventurous spirit and traveled to 46 countries (Kenya was her favorite) and all 50 states. Family was always her first priority.
Connie married William F. Newton in 1941 and they raised three sons. After being widowed, she married Max R. Gorsuch in 1971.
She is survived by sons, Bill (Sandra) Newton of Des Moines and Craig (Marilyn) Newton of Winterset; daughter-in-law, Sonna Neumeister; and brother, Dick (Phyllis) Reynolds. Also surviving are step children, Ron (Dixie) Gorsuch of Grimes, Shirley (Jim) Brick of Eagle Point, OR, Cindy Newell of Glenwood, IA and Karen (Emory) Wheeler of Des Moines and their families. Also surviving are 18 grandchildren and 17 great grandchildren.
Connie was preceded in death by her two husbands and her son, Steve Newton.
There will be a visitation at Hamilton's Southtown Funeral Home, 5400 SW 9th Street on Sunday, March 25 from 12 p.m. until 2 p.m. followed by a Celebration of Life Service. A private family inurnment will take place at Glendale Cemetery at a later date.
Memorial contributions are suggested to the Activity Department at Calvin Community.
The family would like to thank the staff at Calvin and Mercy Hospice for their gentle and loving care during her last days.
