Hager, Naomi Edelman – 1937-2012

After 57 years of marriage, raising four boys, enjoying the lives of twelve grandchildren and recent birth of one great-granddaughter, traveling to many beautiful places in the United States (often to see family), and experiencing meaningful friendships with people at her church and work, Naomi Edelman Hager, 74, of Urbandale, Iowa went home to be with the Lord on August 4, 2012, just twelve days before her 75th birthday. When asked what she wanted for her birthday, the last few years she would answer, "A new body." The Lord has provided it.
Naomi was born August 16, 1937, in Magnolia, Iowa to Edward and Hannah Edelman. She grew up in Council Bluffs, Iowa, attending Thomas Jefferson High School graduating in 1955. Naomi was employed by AT&T of Omaha prior to moving to West Virginia with her husband in 1958. While in West Virginia she was secretary for the alumni Director at West Virgina Wesleyan College for four years. In 1962 Naomi and her family moved to Des Moines where she and her husband raised a family of four boys.
Naomi worked as a lab secretary for the Blood Center of Central Iowa for 19 years. She was dedicated to her family, and providing them with an education.
Preceding Naomi in death is her mother and father, Hannah Stevenson-Edelman and Edward Edelman, two sisters, (Ellen Jane and Gladys Lorraine), one brother, (Howard Lloyd), and two children, infant twins (David Glen and Elizabeth Ann).
Naomi is survived by her husband, Glen of Urbandale, IA, sons, Tim (Lynn) of Springfield , MO, Michael (Lynnette) of Cedar Falls, IA, Randy (Angel) of Omaha, NE, Jamie (Miriam) of Urbandale, IA and twelve grandchildren and one great-granddaughter named Naomi Grace. Naomi is also survived by a brother, Harold Edelman (Nancy) and niece, Michelle of Council Buffs, IA as well as niece Amy Hutchins of San Antonio, TX.
Visitation will be from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Monday, August 6 at Immanuel United Methodist Church, 2900 49th St, Des Moines. Services will be held at 11 a.m., Tuesday, August 7 at the church. Burial will be in Glendale Cemetery in Des Moines. Memorial donations may be made to her church, Mercy Hospice in Johnston or The American Cancer Society.
